Dresses and shoes

I've got the fantastic Luella rip-off from Primark, at a happy £12. Now that I've had a look at that dress again, I realise how great a copy it is.

And so I have a question - and it has nothing to do with the ethics of shopping in Primark.

Would it be completely insane to spend about £60 on a pair of absolutely beautiful black patent peep-toes from Aldo to go with it? I mean, £12 for a dress. That's a bargain. I think I deserve some fab shoes with incredibly high heels to set it off. Along with some massive gold bangles and gold ear rings, a fantastic black patent belt with a massive gold buckle and black cardi, I think people might confuse me for Lilly Allen. Only not blonde.

Which I think rather suits her, by the way, but that has nothing to do with my £12 dress.

I was thinking I'd be about £60 for a dress for my birthday night out anyway, and I probably would've needed shoes as well. So in reality, I am in fact saving money.

Have I convinced you yet?

Top Hair Tips

Today's Top Tip on how not to style your hair...

I have this horrible habit. When I know I won't be leaving the house for a day or so, I just don't bother washing my hair. Or brushing it for that matter. Or even touching it.

On Sunday, I gave it a wee treat then sprayed in this texturising spray gunk that makes it dry wavy all on its own. It was lovely.

Then yesterday I wasn't going anyway, so I left it alone.

Today, I wasn't going anywhere either. I haven't brushed it since Sunday's texturising spray, either. Which had made my hair a bit mad and wiry anyway.

So now my hair is all horrible and thick and disgusting and it might be starting to smell a bit. As well as standing on end, all on its own.

I now know how Russell Brand's hairdresser gets his hair like that. Neglect! And I bet she gets paid a bloody fortune too.

Sunshine in a bottle

Today, I smell like fake tan. That faintly comforting scent which always reminds me of summer. Some hate it. I love it. It's up there with aftersun and freshly-cut grass and the smell of rain while a thunderstorm brews in the air.

Last summer, I was so tanned I was almost ready to compete with the orange girls that roam the streets of Glasgow, thanks to the drugs I'm on which make my skin a bit sensitive to sunlight. The colour faded almost as quickly as it developed, which is probably a good thing. The sun shone yesterday afternoon, so out came the sunshine in a bottle, Johnson's Holiday Skin, in a bid to look a bit more human.

Summer is definitely on the approach. In preparation, I'll just take a deep breath, close my eyes, soak up the fake sunshine on my skin and dream of what's to come. I can't wait.
