Today, in a bid to beat the boredom, I ventured out to the far off, mysterious land that is Glasgow to meet my friend Elaine for lunch.

That's right. I'm too ill to work, but I can still do lunch and shop. I think this proves that I'm on the mend. I might actually start looking for a job soon!

I had a really good day today actually. It was lovely to catch up with Elaine, and I also managed to get myself a pair of black patent leather ballet pumps, which will set off my new skinny jeans a treat.

The urge to shop is back in my blood - and it feels wonderful! Only problem is, I have no money whatsoever. The wonder that is the British benefits system is failing me. I applied for incapacity benefit at the beginning of January, and still nothing.

I feel utterly ridiculous having to sponge off the government, but if everyone else can do it, why can't I? I do have a five-inch scar on my belly. And I can't do anything for any longer than an hour without needing a seat. On Saturday's shopping expedition, more time was spent in Costa's sipping on hot chocolate than there was spent walking about. But at least I'm making progress, right?

Speaking of progress, I'm now onto series 4 of Sex and the City! I started from the beginning about a week ago, and I'm getting through it a treat.

Oh, the life of the unemployed.
